UN: Nearly 30% of Human Trafficking Victims are Children

Nearly 30% of human trafficking victims are children, UN’s press service informs.

Human trafficking takes place every day. It is crude violation of human rights. From 2003 to 2016, nearly 225,000 victims of human trafficking sought assistance in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. More than 70 percent of victims are woman and girls. The victims are often involved in labour activities, mendicancy or sexual slavery. Nearly 30% of human trafficking victims are children.

UNN has informed earlier that 223 Ukrainians became victims of human trafficking in 2018.
