Poland Insists on Appointing Envoy of UN Secretary-General on Ukraine

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Jacek Czaputowicz urges to consider the issues of launching the UN peacekeeping mission in Ukraine and appointing the special envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Ukraine. 

He made this statement in Brussels during the meeting of the ministers of UN Security Council member states with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Polskie Radio writes. 

The diplomat indicated that it is important to keep the problem of aggression against Ukraine in the agenda of international forums, including the UN. It is necessary to consider new initiatives, which make it possible to approach the solution of the conflict, including, perhaps, the launch of the UN peacekeeping mission in Ukraine or the appointment of the special envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Ukraine. 

The Minister informed that the next month, during the session of the UN General Assembly, the debates about the situation in the occupied territories of Ukraine are planned. 

The Minister named no specific candidate for the special envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Ukraine so far. Mr. Czaputowicz explained that they had discussed this idea with Polish experts and he had consulted with Pavlo Klimkin, and after that it was decided to put this idea on the agend
