Record Number of Illegal Migrants Documented in Kyiv in 2018

During 11 months of 2018, 1,101 persons were trying to escape in or through Ukrainian capital, UNN informs with reference to the Facebook page of the member of Kyiv City Council Oleksandr Pabat.

“During 11 months of 2018, 1,101 persons were trying to escape in or through Ukrainian capital. For comparison, the State Migration Service recorded 957 illegal migrants from other countries in 2017, 575 in 2016, 313 in 2015, and only 182 in 2014. They arrived in Kyiv without adhering to the entry procedures,” Mr. Pabat noted.

He added that citizens of Russia were detained for illegal staying in the city of Kyiv the most frequently. As never before, citizens of Bangladesh rushed in and out of Ukraine, while the migration index among Azerbaijanis is steadily high.

According to Mr. Pabat, citizens of Uzbekistan, Georgia and Vietnam migrated illegally less frequently.

It should be noted that 70 migrants have been rescued near Turkey’s coasts.
