Czech Republic in Cooperation with Ukraine Arrested 12 Foreigners for Migrant Smuggling

Czech police has arrested 12 foreigners and accused them of bringing migrants in the country from Southeast Asia and providing them with fake IDs, Radio Praha informs. 

In case the guilt of the suspects is proved they may face 10 years of imprisonment, Jaroslav Ibehej, spokesman for the National Centre for Combating Organised Crime, told on Friday. 

The suspects are all the citizens of former Soviet countries and belonged to an international criminal group. A spokesperson for the police declared that the activities of the group was stopped thanks to the joint efforts of Czech, Polish, Slovak and Ukrainian police. 

It should be noted that in 2017, the Czech Republic deported more than 1,000 citizens of Ukraine who worked illegally in the country having Polish work permits.
