UN High Commissioner for Human Rights visits Russia

The six-day visit of the UN High Commissioner for Human rights, Navanethem Pillay to Russia began this Sunday. According to the Russian President’s press service, Dmitry Medvedev will meet Ms. Pillay on February 15. 

As reported, on the eve of the meeting of the UN High Commissioner with the President of Russia, Russian- language version of the UN human rights website will be launched.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that Ms. Pillay is scheduled to meet the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister for Internal Affairs, the Minister for Health and Social Development, the Minister for Regional Development, the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor-General, as well as the representatives of the Russian non-governmental organizations.

According to the Russian and international non-governmental human rights organizations, the situation of human rights in Russian is in a sad state.
