International conference “Right-wing extremism in Europe: tendencies of development and strategies of combating”
“Holding of the conference devoted to the problems with right-wing extremist movements is another step towards observance of principles of rights of a person in Ukrainian society and towards improvement of co-operation of state structures and civil society in combating the development of such negative phenomena as xenophobia, racism and anti-Semitism,” the arrangers of the event affirm.
Within the framework of the conference, the participants discussed the reasons of appearance of right-wing extremism, strategies of right radicals (mechanisms of obtaining of political legitimacy, attraction of new members, tampering with target groups), spreading of right-wing extremism through sport. In the final part of the conference, the participants focused their attention to discussing of the mechanisms of combating the right-wing extremism, in particular, with the help of activation of the co-operation between the state and the society. In addition, the participants acquainted themselves with global initiatives of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation as for combating the displays of right-wing extremism.
In order to cover all aspects of the above-mentioned issue, the representatives of other state bodies and public organizations, as well as independent experts for the questions of human rights from Ukraine and other European countries, were invited to the conference.
The people’s deputy of Ukraine and the founder of the Institute of Human Rights and Prevention of Extremism and Xenophobia (IHRPEX) Oleksandr Feldman spoke at the conference.
