Roundtable: “The New Composition of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – A More Divided Place than before or the Long-Awaited Democratic Balance?”
The roundtable “The New Composition of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – A More Divided Place than before or the Long-Awaited Democratic Balance?” took place in the press centre of the IA “Ukrainian News” (20, Esplanadna Str., city of Kyiv), on December 11, 2012, at 12:00. The representatives of the IHRPEX took part in the event. The experts and the representatives of mass media discussed the range of important questions, in particular:
- To what extend the nationalistic and anti-Semitic rhetoric of the All-Ukrainian Union ‘Svoboda’ is alarming and what danger does it represent for Ukraine in the world and for its possible party allies in the future?
- ‘Party of Regions’, ‘Batkivshchyna’, ‘UDAR’ and ‘Svoboda’: will the consensus among this political diversity be possible (the issue of Customs Union and the free trade agreement, etc.)?
- By what and to what extend is the “self-confidence” of the majority of the ‘Party of Regions’ in the Parliament dangerous, and what legislative priorities must the Verkovna Rada establish in the first place?
According to the results, the discussion and communication with mass media took place.
