11,000 migrants arrived in Europe by Mediterranean Sea in 2017
More than 11,000 migrants and refugees arrived in Europe during the period from January 1 to February 5 by the Mediterranean Sea, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) says.
IOM reports that 11,010 migrants and refugees with the most part (85 percent) arriving in Italy and the rest in Greece.
It should be noted that during the same 35 days in 2016, 74,808 migrants arrived in Europe by sea.
The IOM also informs that during this period, 255 migrants and refugees died at sea.
Over 360,000 migrants arrived in Europe by sea in 2016.
