78 migrants rescued near Greek coast

Not far from the Greek island of Lesvos, 78 migrants were rescued on Wednesday, Ekathimerini informs.

The migrants were rescued by the “crew of a vessel belonging to the European Union’s border monitoring agency Frontex,” Moreover, a 25-year-old man was detained on charges of human trafficking.

The crew on Frontex vessel brought the rescued migrants to the port of Lesvos.

It should be reminded that in 2015, Greece became the country which accepted the biggest number of migrants and refugees hoping to reach the other European countries from there.

After the EU-Turkey migration deal, the number of migrant arrivals to Greece has decreased.
