The Pope prayed for peace in Ukraine in Christmas message

Pope Francis prayed for peace in Ukraine in the traditional “Urbi et Orbi” Christmas message, Vatican Radio informs.

“We see Jesus in children who, together with their families, suffer from the violence of the conflict in Ukraine and its grave humanitarian repercussions; we pray that the Lord may soon grant peace to this dear country,” Pope Francis said speaking on December 25 at noon from the Central Loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica.

In the message, the head of the Catholic Church urged to pray for peace and to apply efforts for its building.

“Today, as the winds of war are blowing in our world and an outdated model of development continues to produce human, societal and environmental decline, Christmas invites us to focus on the sign of the Child and to recognize him in the faces of little children,” Pope Francis said reminding about the residents of countries, where the military conflicts continue, in particular the Holy Land, the Middle East, the range of African countries, Venezuela, and Ukraine.
