Czech PM: migrant quotas divide Europe and are inefficient

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš has criticized a quota principle of migrant relocation introduced by the European Union in 2015.

He told about this in his speech before the parliament’s vote of no confidence in the government, Ihned.cz reports.

He said that the quotas divide Europe and are inefficient. And it is very important that Donald Tusk (the president of the European Council) supports this statement.

He added that in Europe, they should struggle for the country’s interests and be active. He said that he was going to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, which wasn’t attended by anyone after Václav Klaus. It concerns the bilateral negotiations.

It should be reminded that the European Commission decided to file complaints against the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland to the EU Court due to the failure of these countries to fulfill legal obligations concerning migrant relocation.

Hungary does not participate in the relocation scheme since its start, Poland stopped relocation in December 2015, and the Czech Republic does not take part in the scheme since August 2016 and undertook no new obligations for more than a year.
