PACE elected new commissioner for human rights

The former OSCE Special Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic was elected as a new Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights. It was informed by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe Dmytro Kuleba on his Twitter, UNN reports. 

“Just in: Dunja Mijatovic is the new Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights. Good luck with the new position. I expect the principled and active work aimed at the human rights protection in the occupied Crimea and Donbas and the release of our political prisoners in Russia,” he wrote. 

Ms. Mijatovic is a Bosnian human rights defender, mass media right expert, OSCE Special Representative on Freedom of the Media since 2010. In the second round of elections, she competed with the representative of France.
