Ukraine starts its 3-year membership in UN Human Rights Council

Today, Ukraine started its 3-year membership in the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. It was indicated by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on his Twitter page, UNN reports. 

He noted that after the end of the mission of the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Ukraine starts its 3-year membership in UN Human Rights Council. 

The President noted that the protection of human rights all over the world, including the temporary occupies Crimea and Donbas, is the priority for Ukraine. 

It should be added that the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council was opened in Geneva. It was started with the speech of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres. 

In his speech, UN Secretary-General urged to stop the “hell on earth” in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta.
