Ukraine deported more than 40,000 foreigners since 1991

During the period of its independence, since 1991, Ukraine deported more than 40,000 foreign offenders, UNN informs with reference to the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. 

“The officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine detained nearly 150,000 illegal migrants at the country’s borders since its independence. Nearly 123,000 of them were detained for illegal border crossing, while nearly 180,000 potential illegal migrants were denied access and more than 40,000 foreign offenders were deported from Ukraine,” the agency told. 

The agency also noted that during the last three years, the attempts of migrants to illegally cross the border reduced significantly: there were 1,807 persons in 2015, 1,040 persons in 2016, and 886 persons in 2017.
